VERSE: Ex09-09a
Ex09-09a
(C) Dr Hendel, Jan-04

SUCCINCT SUMMARY
----------------
Rashi frequently makes powerful inferences from the alignment
of ALMOST similar verses. The minor variations between these
almost similar verses suggests nuances and differences or
even meaning. We call this the Rashi rule of ALIGNMENT

When Rashi infers MEANING from the ALIGNMENT of almost
identical phrases we call this the Rashi SUBRULE of MEANING.

EXAMPLE Ex09-09a
----------------
Ecclesiastes 4:6 states
--------------------------------------------------------
Better is a full palm of restfulness
than a full HANDFULL of toil and fragmentation
*1 *2 *3 *1
--------------------------------------------------------

The clear intent of the verse is that HANDFULL is something
more than PALM. In other words this verse can be used to
infer the meaning of Cheth-Pay-Nun as meaning HANDFULL.
