words the same way a dictionary explains words.  Rashi had
a variety of methods by which to explain words. These include
- EXPLANATION OF PHRASES: eg MAN OF HAIR is similar to the
the idiom OWNER OF HAIR and means HAS ALOT OF IT
- GRAMMATICAL DISTINCTION: eg M-v-S means to DEPART while
M-S-S means TO FEEL
- COMPARABLE VERSES TO INFER MEANING: eg EZAL=left over
- NAME BY PROPERTIES: eg The HANGER is the SWORD that HANGS
