After the Revelation at Sinai God prohibits making Spiritual
idols that resemble the prophetic Fire-Visions that the Jews
saw at Sinai

Rashi focuses on the phrases WITH ME vs FOR YOURSELVES.
By gathering 3 Biblical texts on Idolatry we infer that
there are 3 types of idolatry prohibitions
--a prohibition of worshiping e.g. animals(earthly idols)
--a prohibition of worshipping e.g the sun(heavenly idols)
--a prohibition of worshipping the Keruvim (angel idols)

*1 This phrase is identical and the same in both verse halves

*2 Notice how 1 phrase says WITH ME while the other says FOR YOU
   So Rashi is Simple: There are two prohibitions
   -A prohibition of making Keruvim FOR OURSELVES(eg in synagogue
   -A prohibition of making SPIRITUAL IDOLS WITH GOD

   We first explain the concept of SPIRITUAL IDOLS WITH GOD and
   then bring two supports for our interpretation.

   By TEMPLE IDOLS (IDOLS WITH GOD) we mean the DEIFICATION
   OF SPIRITUAL BODIES (For example making 4 gold Keruvim
   corresponding to the 4 fire beasts that Ezekiel saw (Ez-1))

   We present two supports for this interpretation
   --A comparison of several verses shows that there are
     3 types of Idolatry prohibitions

     And God said to Moses this is what you should say to
     the Jews: YOU HAVE SEEN HOW I HAVE SPOKEN TO YOU FROM
     HEAVEN----DONT MAKE WITH ME SILVER OR GOLD gODS
     -----------------------------------------------------
     In other words: I HAVE SPOKEN TO YOU FROM HEAVEN---
     The Jews saw Fire Visions at Sinai---DONT MAKE WITH
     ME GOLD & SILVER gODS--that is dont make SPIRITUAL IDOLS

   Taken together the Simple meaning of this verse,TAKEN
   IN THE CONTEXT of its own CHAPTER and taken in the
   context of OTHER CHAPTERS on IDOLS, suggests that one
   should not make with God spiritual idols resembling the
   fire visions that the Jews saw at Sinai.

   Rashi EXPLICITLY says its idolatry to MAKE IMAGES
   OF MY SERVANTS IN HEAVEN (ie the Fire Visions).

   (In the main posting I suggest that Rashis
   statement IF YOU MAKE KERUVIM OF GOLD (vs SILVER) IT
   IS IDOLATRY should not be taken literally but rather in
   conjunction with the next Rashi: IF YOU MAKE 4 KERUVIM
   TO CORRESPOND TO THE 4 FIRE VISIONS IT IS IDOLATRY
   (However if you make Gold Keruvim (they were suppose
   to be silver) you have violated a Biblical prohibition
   but have not violated idolatry)

   is meant to be read with both of them as follows
