   =============  HOT ITEMS ================================
Todays unit is a bit long and covers 5 vs 3 Rashis.
I didnt separate it since all the alignments are one unit
THEREFORE I will let this unit cover 2 days. Those who
wish may comfortable read 2 tables today and 3 tomorrow

In the future 5-Rashi units will be treated similarly:
   They will cover two days.

This week we are finishing both the ALIGNMENT & NEFESH
   module

   ENGLISH RASHI: http://www.mnemotrix.com/metsudah
   THE WHITE PAPERS: http://www.RashiYomi.Com/white.htm
   =========================================================

GOALS
=====
This module studies the ALIGNMENT method in Rashi. In this
method 2 different verses are found to be ALMOST the same.
The verses are lined up and the minor differences between
them function as footnotes illuminating the text.

TODAYS UNIT
===========
In todays module we study the alignment of 2 chapters
dealing with the MICHAH OFFERINGS THAT ACCOMPANY ALL
SACRIFICES

Todays unit comes from the following posting

ALIGNMENT OF TWO CHAPTERS ON MINCHAT NESACHIM

EXAMPLE 79: Nu28-05a This chapter cross references Nu15
EXAMPLE 80: Nu28-07a This chapter cross references Nu15
EXAMPLE 81: Nu28-07b Wine is POURED; Minchahs are OFFERED
EXAMPLE 82: Nu28-07c Wine must be fermented
EXAMPLE 83: Nu28-12a This chapter cross references Nu15

BACKGROUND
----------
As is well known there are many sacrifices that Jews may or
must bring. Nu15 lays down the important rule that animal
sacrifices must be accompanied by a MINCHAH OFFERING of
flour, oil and wine. This accompanying MINCHAH offering
is also called the MINCHATH NESACHIM. The requirements are
to mix flour and oil and offer it on the altar and then
to pour the wine on the base of the altar.

THE TEXT
--------
Nu15 lays down the basic requirements for Minchah offerings
Nu28 repeats these requirements for the daily offerings.

THE RASHI
---------
Rashi ALIGNS the two chapters. In 3 out of 5 Rashis, Rashi
simply points out that Nu28 is CROSS REFERENCING Nu15.

THE LIST
--------
This ALIGNMENT shows
- most phrases are identical as should be expected

- The required measurements of the amounts of
flour, oil and wine are sometimes more detailed
in one chapter over the other (E.g. One chapter
will just say THE TENTH while another chapter will
clarify THE TENTH OF THE AYFAH MEASURE)

- By comparing the VERBS used, we discover that the
flour and oil are OFFERED ON the altar while the
wine is POURED down on the base

- By comparing references to WINE we discover how
the wine of the Minchah must be processed (it
cant be grape juice but must have begun to ferment)

Here is the list. To facilitate alignment we have omitted
all differences of order (which of course is an interesting
topic in its own right). Certain differences are seen to
be insignificant.

Nu15-04A tenth----- of flourMinchah
Differs*1*2*3
COMMENTS

*1 Not a significant different (No reason known)

*2 Nu28 clarifies that a TENTH means a TENTH of an EYPHAH
An Eyphah is a volume measure equal to the volume of
432 medium eggs so that a TENTH has the volume of 43.2
eggs (Also see the explicit statement in Ex16-36)

*3 Rashi clarifies that Nu28-05a is CROSS REFERENCING Nu15-04
   Rashis exact language is
   ----------------------------------------------------
FOR A MINCHAH: (Rashi) That is,for MINCHATH NESACHIM
(The NESACHIM MINCHAH is a MINCHAH that accompanies
   each sacrifice)

COMMENTS

*4 By saying ITS LIBATION, Nu28 is CROSS REFERENCING the known
   libation mentined in Nu15-05(Rashi)

*5 Identical phrases

*6 Nu15-05 has the additional supplementary phrase
   ---------------------------------------------------
which you should do for an OLAH or SHLAMIM offering
   ---------------------------------------------------
Obviously Nu15 which is the primary chapter on the
   Nesachim requirements has more details.

COMMENTS

*8 A non-significant difference. (I dont know of a reason
for the use of different synonyms for Ox)

*9 Identical phrases.

*10 The AMOUNT of oil (1/2 a hin, the volume of 36 eggs) is
mentioned in Nu15 which is the primary chapter on Nesachim
requirements. It therefore need not be mentioned in
Nu28 which cross references Nu15 (Rashi)

Nu28-07c... intoxicating-winefor a spilling libation
Differs*11*12
COMMENTS

*11 These two phrases INTOXICATING-WINE vs WINE
are perceived as complementing each other. We demand
   - wine,
   - PROVIDED it is potentially INTOXICATING
   - but we EXCLUDE freshly pressed grapes(in the vat) which
     have no fermenting-intoxicating quality

*13 Note that most verses have the VERB: WILL BE (Which in
Hebrew is Elliptic and absent). However Nu28-07 contrasts
   with Nu15-04 as follows:
   - wine is LIBATED(ie POURED) on the holies (Altar)
   - michahs are SACRIFICED
