In this series we review the Rashis on the word ALL.
Although there are 40 Rashis there are 4 simple rules.

RULE: The Hebrew word "ALL"(KL)indicates that there are no
exceptions and that what is being discussed should take place
in ALL circumstances---EVEN those you wouldn't ordinarily think
of.There are 4 methods by which the interpretation of ALL is
implemented.

ALL can indicate
(A) cases you wouldn't ordinarily think of
EXAMPLE:Gn06-12a "ALL Flesh corrupted"
        RASHI: EVEN Animals corrupted

(B) it can indicate that there are no exceptions or

(C) it can refer even to mixtures or

(D) it can emphasize not to exclude "obvious exceptions"

In this particular issue we complete the examples where ALL
means EVEN CASES YOU WOULDN'T THINK OF. We include some
exotic cases.

EXAMPLE 12: Gn43-09b
--------------------
Judah is speaking to Jacob who did not want to let Binyamin
journey to visit Joseph lest an accident happen. Judah
volunteers for the assignment saying if anything happens
it will be my responsibility

>Gn43-09b "I will be in sin again you ALL days
>RASHI: "ALL days"---EVEN in the next world

EXAMPLE 13: Nu14-01a
--------------------
The Torah is discussing the incident of the spies. Recall
that the Jews believed the spies and doubted God could help
them conquer Israel.

>Nu14-01 "& the WHOLE community cried"
>RASHI: "the WHOLE community"--EVEN the leaders (who should have
known better)--EVEN the Judges and leaders of parliament

We will complete this unit next time with 2-3 more Rashis of
this type as well as answers to all outstanding exercises.
