OVERVIEW:
========
This module deals with Rashis which comment on verses with
>REPEATED WORDS<. The basic technique for >REPEATED WORDS<
was succinctly formulated by the MALBIM

--------------------------------------------------------
When a word is >REPEATED< unnecessarily then the
sentence with that word refers to >NON-STANDARD NUANCES<
The examples will illustrate how this is implemented
--------------------------------------------------------

TODAYS UNIT
===========
Up to now we have been dealing with REPETITION which
>BROADENS< the meaning of a word. It denotes that
something is done in ALL circumstances EVEN when you
wouldnt expect it.

By contrast the examples in todays and tomorrows unit
show how repetition indicates >SPECIFICITY AND RESTRICTION<.
A repeated word denotes, not ANY occurence of the concept, but
rather, the BEST and CHOICEST form of a concept.

EXAMPLE 20: Ex31-15a >It is a SABBATH OF SABBATHS<
==========

RASHI:
=====
The Biblical Phrase >SABBATH< means a day of rest
The Biblical Phrase >SABBATH OF SABBATHS< means an >INTENSE<
day of rest. For on Holidays like Passover, although we >REST<
we can nevertheless prepare food. However on the >SABBATH<
we are obligated to >REST< even from preparation of foods.
Hence the Sabbath is not just a >SABBATH< but rather a
>SABBATH of SABBATHS< *1

EXAMPLE 21: Ex19-09a >I will come to you in a CLOUD OF CLOUDS<
==========
RASHI: CLOUD of CLOUDS refers to a DARK CLOUD.
                 Most clouds are white but opaque. A
                 CLOUD of CLOUDS is both dark and opaque.
                 These dark clouds usually appear before
                 a storm. (You can see pictures of them
                 and the classification of clouds in
                 any good encyclopedia)

EXAMPLE 22: Nu04-04a >& Aaron will come to the HOLY OF HOLIES<
==========

RASHI: The HOLY of HOLIES refers to the HOLIEST
                part of the temple. The other parts (The
                ark, candellabrah, table, altar etc were
                only HOLY. In particular access to the
                holy of holies was more restricted than
                access to the other temple parts--for
                example the Candellabrah was accessed
                every day while the holy of holies could
                only be entered once a year)

---------------------------FOOTNOTES---------------------------
*1 EXAMPLE 23: Ex31-15b
   ==========
   Rashi on Ex31-15b compares the way the holidays are
   called in the Bible. As can be seen from the following LIST,
   those holidays called >SABBATH OF SABBATHS< require >TOTAL<
   cessation from work (even from food preparation). By contrast
   those holidays only called >SABBATH< require cessation from
   work but allow preparation of food.

{LIST}

Verses referring to Holidays as either a >SABBATH< or a >SABBATH
OF SABBATHS<. Those holidays referred to as a >SABBATH OF
SABBATHS< require both rest and abstention from food preparation
