VERSE: Ex35-03a

RULE: Sometimes the Biblical verses all have CLEAR meanings but
we do not know how to interpret the EXAMPLES given by the Bible.

Eg Are the examples of the law mentioned by the Bible
the ONLY examples, EXTREME examples, TYPICAL examples etc
The rules relating EXAMPLES to LAWS are governed by the 13 rules
governing EXAMPLES of Rabbi Ishmael.

EXAMPLES:
--------
Observe the Shabbath..do not light a fire on the Sabbath.
Thus not lighting a fire is an EXAMPLE of "observe the sabbath"

How do we view the "No fire on shabbath"

METHOD 1
(1) It is a typical example of a Sabbath violation and teaches
that not only building a whole building but each ACT of building is
prohibited

METHOD 2
(2) It is an extreme example

In other words EVEN lighting a fire (which would not carry
a death penalty) is prohibited and how much more so actual
building.

Further discussion is presented in the main posting.
