SYNONYMS FOR river, Canal, pond

EXAMPLE 4: Ex07-19b NaHaR means RIVER
EXAMPLE 5: Ex07-19c YeOR means CANAL(irrigates Vegie(OR) gardens)
EXAMPLE 6: Ex07-19d (repeated) AGAM means MARSH (reeds(GoMa)grow

BACKGROUND
----------
In Ex07-19b God is bringing the plague of blood on Egypt by
which all Egyptian waters are converted to Blood.

THE TEXT
--------
God brings blood on RIVERS, CANALS, and PONDS

THE RASHI
---------
Rashi explains the specific nuances of these 3 words
They mean RIVER, CANAL, & POND-MARSH

THE LIST
--------
We can accept these Rashis on tradition. However it is
our custom to try and defend these Rashis on meaning.
In particular we show how each of these synonyms follows
reasonable etymologies. In the list below we argue that
-- CANAL comes from the root Aleph-Resh--Vegtables, since
CANALS are used to water Gardens
-- POND comes from Gimel-Mem--REEDS, since REEDs typically
grow in PONDS.
Here is the LIST. The footnotes provide further details.
VERSE HEBREW ENGLISH ETYMOLOGY
Ex07-19b NaHaR River
Ex07-19c YeOR*1 Canal ORVH*1 means VEGIES(Canals water gardens)
Ex07-19d AGaM*2 MARSH GooMaH means REEDS(Reeds grow in MARSHS)
COMMENTS
*1 ORVH can mean Vegetables as in 2C32-28. Thus YEOR, CANAL
is something used to IRRIGATE VEGETABLES GARDENS.
Roots beginning with YUD frequently have the same meaning
as the roots composed of their last two letters.

 ---------------------------------------------------------------
ROOT1 ROOT2 MEANING RDQs STATEMENT OF EQUAL MEANING

 ----------------------------------------------------------------

*2 We explained this in yesterdays posting. A short recap is as
   follows
   - ALEPH means THING. AGaM is a THING(ALEPH) for REEDS(GooMAH)
   - SOF:GAM both mean to add; both mean REEDS, which suck and
add water continuously, and both refer to MARSH-POND where
     Reeds Grow
   - We brought 4 Rashis on words meaning MARSH and showed from
Rashis explicit statement Ex13-18b that Rashi perceived
a Marsh as a place where REEDS grow.
