VERSE: Gn21-33a
RULE: AYSHEL = Hotel = Place where you can rest
There are actually 4 approaches to this word--3 approaches
in Midrash Rabbah, based on 3 philosophies of etymology, and
an additional approach by Rashi
EXAMPLES:
--------
(1) You can derive meanings from permutations of letters
Hence, A-Sh-L(Hotel) = Sh-A-L (You can ASK whatever you want)
(2) You can derive meanings from the USAGE of verbs used.
Hence Gn21-33 says "He BUILT( N-T-A) a Hotel". (Cf Dan 11:45)
(3) You can derive meanings by breaking a word into smaller words
Hence A-Sh-L = A Court Complex = An island (Ay) of buildings that
adjudicate disputes (establish who can say "it is mine"(Shli))
(4) RASHI-HIRSCH: ALEPH at the beginning of a word means THING
Hence AYSHEL (Hotel) = ALEPH(Thing used for) SHL (Rest SHLVAH)
NOTES:
-----
The following {LIST} justifies that ALEPH = THING
AVN (Stone)= THING (Aleph) you BUILD with (BNH)
AGL (Droplet) = A THING (Aleph) that is ROUND(GLL)
ADM (Red) = A THING (Aleph) that is BLOOD colored(DM)
AFR (Dust) = A THING (Aleph) that is CRUSHED (PRR)
AVD (Lost object) = A THING (Aleph) that is ISOLATED(BD)
