VERSE: Gn46-02a

RULE: Repeating a name is a stylistic way to denote endearment
and closeness. Thus eg the statement JACOB JACOB denotes that
I feel especially close to JACOB.

EXAMPLES:
--------
(1) "Abraham, Abraham" Gn22-11
(2) "Jacob, Jacob" Gn46-02*2
(3) "Moses, Moses" Ex03-04
(4) "Shmuel, Shmuel" Sam3-10
(5) "You're beautiful, you're beautiful" Songs4-1
(6) "Your hand God, ..Your hand is majestic" Ex15-06*3

NOTES:
-----
*1 Rashi applies the same principle to the repeated enumeration
of the Jewish people in the chapters beginning Ex01-01 and Gn48-08

*2 An explicit Rashi on this verse

*3 This is a repetition, not of words, but of KEY PHRASES
The main posting brings a list of such verses (from Rashi)
