GOALS
=====
This module studies Rashis treatment of classical grammar.
In other words how did Rashi treat the rules you find in
modern LEARN-HEBREW textbooks

TODAYS UNIT
===========
In todays unit we review the same root conjugated
in Past Present & Future. From the subtle differences
we infer basic Chumash and a deep philosophical lesson

REVIEW OF CLASSICAL GRAMMAR CONJUGATIONS

EXAMPLE 54: Ex25-40a God showed Moses MNORAH 2nd time;
EXAMPLE 55: Ex25-40b MoReH is      HAFAL,2nd Person,Masc,Present
EXAMPLE 56: Ex26-30a VHAKAYMOTA is HIFIL,2nd Person,Masc,Past
EXAMPLE 57: Ex26-30b HoRayTha is   HAFAL,2nd Person,Masc,Past
----------- Ex27-08  HERAH    is   HIFIL,3rd Person,Masc,Past

REFERENCES
----------
Ibn Shoshan Table 9; 1-2-Hey roots (For Resh-Aleph-Hey)
Ibn Shoshan table 6; 1-vav-3 roots (For HAKAYMOTAH)

BACKGROUND
----------
Hebrew grammar is based on 3 letter ROOTS. Each of these 3
letter roots can be CONJUGATED in various forms. For example the
root SHIN-MEM-RESH means TO WATCH. SMRti means I WATCHED while
eSMR means I WILL WATCH. Many books have been written presenting
these conjugation tables (Eg IBN SHOSHANS Dictionary, Volume 5;
the Appendix of Tables at the end)

THE TEXT
--------
3 verses speak about Moses Erecting the temple according
to the blueprint THAT MOSES WAS SHOWN in the mountain. By
studying the conjugations of the verb TO SHOWN we learn nuances

THE RASHI
---------
Rashi learns several items from the TENSE of the conjugations
-- Moses was shown the blueprint of the temple on Har Sinai
-- Moses was show the Blueprint of Candellabrah a 2nd time
-- Moses erected the temple after its utensils were made

THE PHILOSOPHICAL LESSON
------------------------
Moses had to be shown the Candellabrah a 2nd time because
the Candellabrah symbolizes education from infancy to
adulthood and Moses being an Angel and perfectionist
found the infancy experience difficult to understand
Hence God had to show him the Candellabrah again.
(In this way philosophy is inferred from Grammar)

THE LIST
--------
Here are the list of verses. Footnotes refer to the
conjugations of verbs.
VERSE TEXT OF VERSE with CONJUGATED VERBS HILIGHTED
Ex25-40 & see & make the Candellabrah as you are being SHOWN*1
Ex26-30 & ERECT the tabernacle as you WERE SHOWN *2
Ex27-08 make the altar as you WERE SHOWN*3
COMMENTS
*1 See Ibn Shoshan Table 9 for HAFAL conjugation of SHOWN
   (MoReH(shown) is Hafal,present tense)

   Note the present tense. Comparing the 3 words SHOWN
   in the 3 verses displayed above we
   see that Moses WAS SHOWN in the Mountain and IS NOW BEING
   SHOWN the Candellabrah--hence he was shown the Candellabrah
   a 2nd time.

   As explained Moses who was a perfect angel could
   not understand the ignorance that precedes education & hence
   he had to be shown the Candellabrah which symbolizes
   education

*2 See Ibn Shoshan table 6 for VHAKAYMOTA--and you will erect
   This is Causative, Future (You will cause to stand)

   As can be seen from Ex40 the Temple house was erected AFTER
   the utensils were made

*3 See Ibn Shoshan table 9 for HERAH--as you WERE SHOWN.
   HERAH is HAFAL, PAST.

   There is no Rashi on this verse but it obviously contrasts
   with Ex25-40 which uses the PRESENT TENSE (AS YOU ARE
   SHOWN). As indicated above this led Rashi to conclude
   that Moses was shown the Menorah twice for the reasons
   indicated
