SUCCINCT SUMMARY ---------------- One of Rashis 5 main goals is to give the meaning of words the same way the dictionary gives the meaning of words. Rashi had a variety of vehicles to explain meaning. EXAMPLE ------- The word HAND can mean DOMAIN. This is an example of METONOMY- The HAND controls the items it grasps. Hence the word HAND is RELATED to CONTROL, DOMAIN and POSSESSION. Thus the word HAND comes to mean DOMAIN. | ||
