TODAYS POSTING
--------------
The book of Job naturally divides
into 25 units---this is the 20th. We
plan to do 6 postings in the next 2
weeks finishing the translation on
Dec 31st.
CHAPTERS 32,33
--------------
It is a central doctrine of Judaism that God
is Just. It is similarly a central doctrine
that God INFORMED man of this justice. In fact,
a 6-part Solution to Suffering that is completely
satisfactory intellectually may be found in the
last 8 chapters of Job. The solution to suffering
presented is as follows:
----------------- FINAL SOLUTION TO SUFFERING ------------
(Jb32,Jb33) (ELIHU #1) AVOIDANCE OF INDULGENCE:
------------God uses dreams to prevent man
------------from excessive indulgence
(Jb34) (ELIHU #2) PRAYER FOR GUIDANCE:
-------------- God doesn't kill wicked immediately;
-------------- God waits for prayer for guidance
(Jb35) (ELIHU #3) ACCEPTANCE OF GODS JUSTICE
------------- Our actions thoughts and complaints
------------- mold our pesonality and gradually
------------- change it; we must therefore see
------------- all acts of God as meaningful
(Jb36,Jb37) (ELIHU #4) INSTRUCTIVE DREAMS:
------------ God guides man from suffering
------------ thru instructive dreams giving him help
(Jb38,Jb39) (God #1) GOD CREATES PERSONALITIES
----------- God uses Growth pains;
---------- enables man to be different personalities
(Jb40) (God #2) PAIN SEPARATES FROM SEXUAL/NATIONAL TIES
------ Purpose of absolute pain is
----- to separate from (a) sexual ties (b) national ties
------------------------------------------------------
We shall discuss each of these 6 points separately
in its place. For the moment notice that ELIHU does not
make the same mistake as the other discussants. There IS
a reason why wicked people don't die IMMEDIATELY; it is not
that God doesn't notice or that God is rewarding them for
their good deeds (Maybe they have no good deeds). Rather
God is responding to their prayers for guidance so that God
may answer them in dreams. Again: This is but an idea
which we will discuss further later. Right now let us
discuss todays posting.
Here is the outline of todays posting.
----------------------------------------------------------
(ELIHU #1) God talks to man in dreams;removes excessive lust
----------------------------------------------------------
(Jb32-01:05) Elihu blows up at Job and 3 Friends
(Jb32-06:09) Widsom dependent on God not age/maturity
(Jb32-10:22) Therefore I too will speak despite my youth
(Jb33-01:07) Job, if you can, answer me--if not listen
(Jb33-08:11) Job claims: God doesn't answer man
(Jb33-12:22) BUT God does answer man in dreams to prevent lust
(Jb33-23:28) --- God then returns to man his innocence
(Jb33-29:30) --- God does the above several times
(Jb33-31:33) Shut up Job -- Let me show you Gods ways

Although the 9 subparagraphs can be recognized by
content they can also be recognized by the skillful
use of transition keywords. The keywords indicating
subparagraphs are
- HE ANSWERED

Here is the detailed translation
------------------ SECTION 1------------------------------
(ELIHU #1) God talks to man in dreams;removes excessive lust
----------------------------------------------------------
(Jb32-01:05) Elihu blows up at Job and 3 Friends
----------------------------------------------------------
(Jb32-01) (When) these 3 colleagues stopped
(Jb32-01) responding to Job
(Jb32-01) since his(Job) opinion was
(Jb32-01) that he was righteous.(Then)
(Jb32-02) Elihu, son of BlessGod, the Despised
(Jb32-02) from a distinguished family:
(Jb32-02) BLEW UP:at Job:
(Jb32-02) ---------------for thinking that he was
(Jb32-02) ---------------more righteous than God
(Jb32-03) BLEW UP:at his 3 colleagues:
(Jb32-03) ---------------because when they couldn't answer him
(Jb32-03) ---------------they called Job wicked
(Jb32-04) Elihu had waited to answer Job
(Jb32-04) because his colleagues were older
(Jb32-05) But when Elihu saw no response from the 3
(Jb32-05) HE BLEW UP
----------------------------------------------------------
------------------ SECTION 2 -----------------------------
(ELIHU #1) God talks to man in dreams;removes excessive lust
----------------------------------------------------------
(Jb32-06:09) Widsom dependent on God not age/maturity
----------------------------------------------------------
(Jb32-06) Elihu, son of BlessGod, the Despised
(Jb32-06) answered and said:
(Jb32-06) I am younger in years;
(Jb32-06) you are older;
(Jb32-06) Therefore I hesitated respectfully
(Jb32-06) from expressing my opinion to you
(Jb32-07) I thought that (correct)speech comes with age
(Jb32-07) -------------- maturity enables wisdom
(Jb32-08) But (I see now) that indeed
(Jb32-08) (Correctness is dependent)
(Jb32-08) on prophecy to man
(Jb32-08) -- The Spirit of the Almighty(Not years!)
(Jb32-08) This is what gives understanding
(Jb32-09) NOT everyone can become wise(as they age)
(Jb32-09) --- elders can understand justice
----------------------------------------------------------
------------- SECTION 3 ----------------------------------
(ELIHU #1) God talks to man in dreams;removes excessive lust
----------------------------------------------------------
(Jb32-10:22) Therefore I too will speak despite my youth
----------------------------------------------------------
(Jb32-10) THEREFORE I SAID
(Jb32-10) Hear me
(Jb32-10) I also will express my opinion
(Jb32-11) INDEED, I hoped for your dialogues
(Jb32-11) ------- I weighed your arguments
(Jb32-11) ------- until each word was studied
(Jb32-12) ------- I waited to investigate you
(Jb32-12) BUT BEHOLD, no one rebuked Job
(Jb32-12) ------------------ answered him
(Jb32-13) (I waited for your dialogues)
(Jb32-13) Lest you say: --We did answer him
(Jb32-13) God will refute him,not man--
(Jb32-14) (But)He did not order his arguments to me
(Jb32-14) and I will not answer him like you
(Jb32-15) They(The friends) became frightened
(Jb32-15) They stopped answering him
(Jb32-15) they were at a loss of words
(Jb32-16) And I still waited
(Jb32-16) But Rather
(Jb32-16) ----------They did not speak
(Jb32-16) ----------They stood still
(Jb32-16) ----------They did not answer
(Jb32-17) I will give my portion of the answer
(Jb32-17) I also will express my opinion
(Jb32-18) For I am filled with words
(Jb32-18) my stomach bloats from overfill
(Jb32-19) My stomach is like a wine bottle-not opened
(Jb32-19) like new containers before being broken in
(Jb32-20) I will speak ----------and I will be relieved
(Jb32-20) I will open my mouth---
(Jb32-20) I will answer----------
(Jb32-21) Please..I will not respect anybody
(Jb32-21) --------I will not flatter any person
(Jb32-22) For I don't know how to flatter
(Jb32-22) (if I did)my Maker would take me shortly
----------------------------------------------------------
--------------- SECTION 4 --------------------------------
(ELIHU #1) God talks to man in dreams;removes excessive lust
----------------------------------------------------------
(Jb33-01:07) Job, if you can, answer me--if not listen
----------------------------------------------------------
(Jb33-01) HOWEVER Job
(Jb33-01) ----------- Hear my words
(Jb33-01) ----------- weigh my points
(Jb33-02) BEHOLD: I opened my mouth
(Jb33-02) ------ my tongue speaks on my palate
(Jb33-03) ------ my speech is pure from the heart
(Jb33-03) ------ my thoughts are clearly stated
(Jb33-04) ------ They were made by prophetic insights
(Jb33-04) ------ --------- expressed by the Spirit of the Almighty
(Jb33-05) IF YOU CAN, answer me
(Jb33-05) ----------- set up (arguments)before me
(Jb33-05) ----------- stand up (to me)
(Jb33-06) BEHOLD
(Jb33-06) ------ I speak to God the same way you do
(Jb33-06) ------ I was also molded from clay
(Jb33-07) THEREFORE
(Jb33-07) --------- my stance will not terrorize you
(Jb33-07) --------- my gestations will not burden you
----------------------------------------------------------
--------------- SECTION 5 --------------------------------
(ELIHU #1) God talks to man in dreams;removes excessive lust
----------------------------------------------------------
(Jb33-08:11) Job claims: God doesn't answer man
----------------------------------------------------------
(Jb33-08) NEVERTHELESS
(Jb33-08) ------------ You have stated in my presence
(Jb33-08) ------------ you articulated as follows
(Jb33-09) I am righteous
(Jb33-09) ------------- I have no sin
(Jb33-09) I am innocent
(Jb33-09) ------------- I have no iniquity
(Jb33-10) BEHOLD
(Jb33-10) ------ He(God) seeks pickiness on me
(Jb33-10) ------ He considers me His enemy
(Jb33-11) ------ He restrains my movement
(Jb33-11) ------ He watches wherever I go
----------------------------------------------------------
------------------ SECTION 6 -----------------------------
(ELIHU #1) God talks to man in dreams;removes excessive lust
----------------------------------------------------------
(Jb33-12:22) But God answers man in dreams to prevent lust
----------------------------------------------------------
(Jb33-12) BEHOLD in this you are not correct
(Jb33-12) RATHER God teaches man away from his vulnerability
(Jb33-13) Why did you argue against Him
(Jb33-13) that He never answers man with what he wants
(Jb33-14) For God does speak at least once
(Jb33-14) ------------------ a 2nd time to those not grasping
(Jb33-15) IN a dream
(Jb33-15) -- a vision of the night
(Jb33-15) -- a coma-like slumber
(Jb33-15) -- a doze-off on a couch
(Jb33-16) Then He reveals to people
(Jb33-16) And He seals it with Rebuke
(Jb33-17) Preventing man from THE act
(Jb33-17) Hiding erections from men
(Jb33-18) He prevents man from going into Hell
(Jb33-18) ----------- his desires from doing whatever they feel like
(Jb33-19) And he(man) is hit
(Jb33-19) with pain in his bed(ie bedroom life)
(Jb33-19) though his erections argue against it
(Jb33-20) (Thru His dreams God makes man so that)
(Jb33-20) He despises a constant desire for breasts
(Jb33-20) ----------- a yearning for the life of lust
(Jb33-21) His flesh shrinks
(Jb33-21) His erections dislodge from sight
(Jb33-22) He feels he nears Hell
(Jb33-22) His desires look dead
----------------------------------------------------------
------------------- SECTION 7 ----------------------------
(ELIHU #1) God talks to man in dreams;removes excessive lust
----------------------------------------------------------
(Jb33-23:28) --- God then returns to man his innocence
----------------------------------------------------------
(Jb33-23) If he(man) has for him
(Jb33-23) even one angel
(Jb33-23) one intercessor against 1000 adversaries
(Jb33-23) then He(God) pities him
(Jb33-24) God says: Redeem him from Hell
(Jb33-24) --------- I have found redemptive merit
(Jb33-25) --------- Let his skin look young again
(Jb33-25) --------- Let him return to his youthfulness
(Jb33-26) When he(man) beseeches God
(Jb33-26) Then God answers him
(Jb33-26) ---- God meets him head on in fanfare
(Jb33-26) ---- God returns to him his good name
(Jb33-27) And he (man) scans his friends
(Jb33-27) and says:
(Jb33-27) --------- I did sin
(Jb33-27) --------- I distorted the simple path
(Jb33-27) --------- I don't deserve anything back
(Jb33-28) --------- But He(God) saved me from Hell
(Jb33-28) --------- My desires are normal again
----------------------------------------------------------
---------------- SECTION 8 -------------------------------
(ELIHU #1) God talks to man in dreams;removes excessive lust
----------------------------------------------------------
(Jb33-29:30) --- God does the above several times
----------------------------------------------------------
(Jb33-29) BEHOLD
(Jb33-29) ------ All the above God does
(Jb33-29) ------ twice, maybe three times with man
(Jb33-30) ------ In order to prevent him from Hell
(Jb33-30) ------ ----------- allow him to see the light
----------------------------------------------------------
------------------- SECTION 9 ----------------------------
(ELIHU #1) God talks to man in dreams;removes excessive lust
----------------------------------------------------------
(Jb33-31:33) Shut up Job -- Let me show you Gods ways
----------------------------------------------------------
(Jb33-31) Hearken Job
(Jb33-31) Hear me
(Jb33-31) Shut up
(Jb33-31) Let me do the talking
(Jb33-32) IF YOU CAN utter a response
(Jb33-32) ---------- speak, because I want to justify you
(Jb33-33) IF YOU CAN'T then you listen to me
(Jb33-33) Shut up and I will teach you wisdom
----------------------------------------------------------
