TODAYS POSTING
--------------
The book of Job naturally divides
into 25 units---this is the 21st. We
plan to do 6 postings in the next 2
weeks finishing the translation on
Dec 31st.

CHAPTER 34
----------
It is a central doctrine of Judaism that God
is Just. It is similarly a central doctrine
that God INFORMED man of this justice. In fact,
a 6-part Solution to Suffering that is completely
satisfactory intellectually may be found in the
last 8 chapters of Job. The solution to suffering
presented is as follows:

----------------- FINAL SOLUTION TO SUFFERING ------------
(Jb32,Jb33) (ELIHU #1) AVOIDANCE OF INDULGENCE:
------------God uses dreams to prevent man
------------from excessive indulgence
(Jb34) (ELIHU #2) PRAYER FOR GUIDANCE:
-------------- God doesn't kill wicked immediately;
-------------- God waits for prayer for guidance
(Jb35) (ELIHU #3) ACCEPTANCE OF GODS JUSTICE
------------- Our actions thoughts and complaints
------------- mold our personality and gradually
------------- change it; we must therefore see
------------- all acts of God as meaningful
(Jb36,Jb37) (ELIHU #4) INSTRUCTIVE DREAMS:
------------ God guides man from suffering
------------ thru instructive dreams giving him help
(Jb38,Jb39) (God #1) GOD CREATES PERSONALITIES
----------- God uses Growth pains;
---------- enables man to be different personalities
(Jb40) (God #2) PAIN SEPARATES FROM SEXUAL/NATIONAL TIES
------ Purpose of absolute pain is
----- to separate from (a) sexual ties (b) national ties
------------------------------------------------------

We shall discuss each of these 6 points separately
in its place.

Here is the outline of todays posting.

-------------------------------------------------------------------
(ELIHU #2) PRAYER: Pray to God-Show me what I have not seen
-------------------------------------------------------------------
(Jb34-02:09) Jobs claim:Good/Bad deeds don't affect God-man
relationship
(Jb34-10:11) No(To Jobs claim) God does treat man justly
(Jb34-12:20) God has absolute power to instantly punish the wicked
(Jb34-21:30) God punishes justly according to mans exact deeds
(Jb34-31:33) Pray to God--Show me what I have not seen
(Jb34-34:37) May Jobs errors in thinking be exposed eternally
-------------------------------------------------------------------

CONTRAST OF ELIHU and JOBS OTHER FRIENDS
----------------------------------------
Job constantly mentions that the wicked
live long lives before dying. Job sees
these long-lives as aberrations of Gods justice
Elihu answers Job: God waits for prayer for
guidance. So if a person is wicked and praying
for guidance he will not die immediately.
Similarly God waits for the prayers of the
oppressed. When however they do not pray God
ignores the masses.

-------------------------------------------------------------------
(ELIHU #2) PRAYER: Pray to God-Show me what I have not seen
-------------------------------------------------------------------
(Jb34-02:09) Job claims:Good/Bad deeds don't affect God-man
relationship
-------------------------------------------------------------------
(Jb34-02) Scholars, listen to my ruminations
(Jb34-02) Those in the know--examine what I say
(Jb34-03) For examination tests the nuances of words
(Jb34-03) (as) the palate tests food
(Jb34-04) Let us pick a just approach
(Jb34-04) Let us decide what is right
(Jb34-05) For Job claims, It is I who am right
(Jb34-05) --------------- ----- God who behaved unjustly
(Jb34-06) I have been double-crossed despite my justice
(Jb34-06) My wound is incurable despite no sin
(Jb34-07) .......................................
(Jb34-07) Where can we find a man like Job
(Jb34-07) who drinks ridicule like water
(Jb34-08) (Whose words make him like) a guest of sinners
(Jb34-08) --------------------------- a walker with wicked
(Jb34-09) Because he(Job) said
(Jb34-09) --------------- Man has no benefit
(Jb34-09) ............... in pleasing God
-------------------------------------------------------------------

-------------------------------------------------------------------
(ELIHU #2) PRAYER: Pray to God-Show me what I have not seen
-------------------------------------------------------------------
(Jb34-10:11) No(To Jobs claim) God treats man justly
-------------------------------------------------------------------
(Jb34-10) But Indeed (no):
(Jb34-10) people with a heart, listen to me
(Jb34-10) God forbid that
(Jb34-10) --------------- God should do evil
(Jb34-10) --------------- the Almighty should do iniquity
(Jb34-11) Rather God pays man what he deserves
(Jb34-11) ---------- presents to a person according his path
-------------------------------------------------------------------

-------------------------------------------------------------------
(ELIHU #2) PRAYER: Pray to God-Show me what I have not seen
-------------------------------------------------------------------
(Jb34-12:20) God has absolute power to instantly punish the wicked
-------------------------------------------------------------------
(Jb34-12) Indeed it is true: God does not do evil
(Jb34-12) ----------------- The Almighty doesn't distort justice
(Jb34-13) Who from the humans gave orders to Him
(Jb34-13) And who from the entire globe placed (orders)
(Jb34-14) (For) If God turned His heart against this person
(Jb34-14) ------both his life and soul would return to Him
(Jb34-15) ------all (who gave Him orders) would die simultaneously
(Jb34-15) ------even good people would return to dust
(Jb34-16) But if you really seek understanding
(Jb34-16) (Then) listen to what I am about to say
(Jb34-16) (Then) understand the nuances of my words
(Jb34-17) Would you really accuse the POLICE, of hating justice
(Jb34-17) ---------------------- the MIGHTY RIGHTEOUS, of wickedness
(Jb34-18) ---------------------- the KING, of being a criminal
(Jb34-18) ---------------------- the CHARITABLE, of being wicked
(Jb34-19) (Would you really accuse GOD)
(Jb34-19) (GOD) who has not chosen favoritism to princes
(Jb34-19) ---- who has not respected the rich before the poor
(Jb34-19) For they are equally the works of his hands
(Jb34-20) In a second they(the princes and rich) die
(Jb34-20) At midnight --------
(Jb34-20) (Although) the multitudes are horrified
(Jb34-20) nevertheless it passes
(Jb34-20) (Indeed) he removes the mighty without force
-------------------------------------------------------------------

-------------------------------------------------------------------
(ELIHU #2) PRAYER: Pray to God-Show me what I have not seen
-------------------------------------------------------------------
(Jb34-21:30) God punishes justly according to mans exact deeds
-------------------------------------------------------------------
(Jb34-21) For Gods eyes are on man's path
(Jb34-21) --- He sees all his steps
(Jb34-22) --- there is no darkness/death where sinners can hide
(Jb34-23) For God does not fabricate further accusations
(Jb34-23) (Rather) He wants man to face (His) Justice
(Jb34-24) God cracks the mighty who are unscrutinable
(Jb34-24) and replaces them with others
(Jb34-25) Indeed: He recognizes their deeds
(Jb34-25) ------- and then overturns a night of misfortune
(Jb34-25) ------- and crushes them
(Jb34-26) He spanks the wicked
(Jb34-26) in...their place
(Jb34-26) in...front of all
(Jb34-26) BECAUSE they departed from Him
(Jb34-26) ------- they didn't understand his paths
(Jb34-27) ------- they brought on Him the screams of the poor
(Jb34-27) ------- ------------------- the screams of the indigent
(Jb34-28) (So indeed it is true)
(Jb34-28) He quiets a situation---who can rattle it
(Jb34-28) He Hides His face ------who will see Him
(Jb34-28) on either a nation or an individual at once
(Jb34-30) (all this he does )
(Jb34-30) (to prevent) flatterers from Kingship
(Jb34-30) (to prevent) the entanglement of the country
-------------------------------------------------------------------

-------------------------------------------------------------------
(ELIHU #2) PRAYER: Pray to God-Show me what I have not seen
-------------------------------------------------------------------
(Jb34-31:33) Pray to God--Show me what I have not seen
-------------------------------------------------------------------
(Jb34-31) RATHER (than deny Gods Justice)
(Jb34-31) You should say to God:
(Jb34-31) -------------- I bear your sufferings
(Jb34-31) -------------- I will not damage (anymore)
(Jb34-32) -------------- What I don't see, You teach me
(Jb34-32) -------------- If I made a sin--I won't continue
(Jb34-33) (Indeed Job)
(Jb34-33) ------------ Should God have completed punishment
(Jb34-33) ------------ with your consultation
(Jb34-33) ------------ just because (you were ) fed up(with life)
(Jb34-33) ------------ Would you rather God say to you:
(Jb34-33) ------------ You (Job) chose the punishment, not Me
(Jb34-33) ------------ What is it you,Job, know(that God doesn't)
(Jb34-33) ------------ tell us
-------------------------------------------------------------------

-------------------------------------------------------------------
(ELIHU #2) PRAYER: Pray to God-Show me what I have not seen
-------------------------------------------------------------------
(Jb34-34:37) May Jobs errors in thinking be exposed eternally
-------------------------------------------------------------------
(Jb34-34) Those of heart will say to me
(Jb34-34) Wise men will listen to me(as follows):
(Jb34-35) -- Job: speaks without reason
(Jb34-35) ------: His words--without thinking thru
(Jb34-36) My desire is that Jobs claims should be tested eternally
(Jb34-36) in order to give answers to sinners
(Jb34-37) Because he has increased sin
(Jb34-37) ------- he claps hands (on his cliches) among us
(Jb34-37) ------- and fights God with his sayings
-------------------------------------------------------------------
