CHAPTER 8
=========

Today we translate chapters 6,7 which
according to the outline contains
- ROUND 1
- DIALOG 2
- The 2nd attempted solution to suffering
by Bildad HaShuchi

We apply our 3 fold
approach(TOPIC,SUBTOPICS, WORDS)
to Chapter 8.

We first present BOTH
- the one sentence solution to suffering of Eliphaz
- Jobs rebuttal of this attempt
- Bildads 2nd solution to suffering

--------------------------------------------------------
ELIPHAZ:Suffering comes to teach & improve
JOB:SUFFERING improves;but PAIN prevents learning
BILDAD: Suffering comes from sin;Success from observance
--------------------------------------------------------

This chapter naturally has
4 subtopics as follows:

----------------------------------------------------------------
MAIN SENTENCE: SUFFERING comes from SIN;SUCCESS from OBSERVANCE
----------------------------------------------------------------
Jb08-02:07 God is just;He punishes sin and rewards observance
Jb08-08:10 This (punish sin;reward observance) is well known
Jb08-11:19 PLANT ANALOGY:Plants thrive while water remains--then
wither
Jb08-20:22 God is just;He punishes sin and rewards observance
----------------------------------------------------------------

Note the A-B-A form of the chapter. The 1st and 4th section
basically say the same thing. The 3rd section also reiterates
this theme but thru an analogy with the plant world.

On a technical point, the reader can of
course recognize chapter subsections by content.
However the reader can also recognize chapter
subsections by KEYWORDS which introduce these
subsections. The sections of this chapter begin
with the Hebrew Keywords,AD AN, KI, HEN

------------------------ 1st SECTION ---------------------------
MAIN SENTENCE: SUFFERING comes from SIN;SUCCESS from OBSERVANCE
----------------------------------------------------------------
Jb08-02:07 God is just;He punishes sin and rewards observance
----------------------------------------------------------------
- How long (Job) will you speak this way(Asking for death)?
- -------------- will you claim your words well sifted & thought out?
- Would God twist justice?
- Would the Almighty twist righteousness?
- -- IF His children sin then God lets sin run over them
- -- BUT IF you seek God and supplicate the Almighty
- -- THEN IF you are upright & pure
- -- THEN God will arouse(your friends) for you
- -- -------- and will complete your righteous life
- -- --------, Even, if your beginnings were small
- -- --------, your end will grow alot
----------------------------------------------------------------

---------------------- 2nd SECTION -----------------------------
MAIN SENTENCE: SUFFERING comes from SIN;SUCCESS from OBSERVANCE
----------------------------------------------------------------
Jb08-08:19 Jb08-08:10 This (punish sin;reward observance) is well
known
----------------------------------------------------------------
- Please ask the old timers
- Research the essays of the elders
- For we have just begun; we dont fully know(but our fathers know)
- For our days are like day shadows (that quickly vanish)
- Will not they(fathers/old times) confirm these teachings
- ------------- & tell you
- ------------- & give (true) words from their hearts:
----------------------------------------------------------------

---------------------- 3rd SECTION -----------------------------
MAIN SENTENCE: SUFFERING comes from SIN;SUCCESS from OBSERVANCE
----------------------------------------------------------------
Jb08-08:19 PLANT ANALOGY:Plants thrive while water remains--then
wither
----------------------------------------------------------------
- Does a reed grow without soil?
- ---- a meadow sprout without water?
- While they sprout (on good soil/water) the wont break
- (and when the water/soil dwindles) they immediately dry out
-
- Similar are the paths of those who forget God
- the hopes of flaterrers get lost
- for the strength(water/soil of the flatterer) is cut
- that which the flatterer depended on becomes like a spider web
- If he leans on his family he cant stand
- If they try to pick him up he wont get up;
- (ALTHOUGH) he was once moist in a sunlit place
- -------- his shoots went forth on a garden
- -------- his roots entangle on wells
- -------- --------- like a support of stones
- (NEVERTHELESS) when his soil/water gets eaten up
- it looks as if he was never there
- INDEED: The wicked rejoince in knowning their paths are temporary
- ------- The wicked know that others will sprout after them
-----------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------- 4th SECTION ------------------------------
MAIN SENTENCE: SUFFERING comes from SIN;SUCCESS from OBSERVANCE
----------------------------------------------------------------
Jb08-20:22 God is just;He punishes sin and rewards observance
----------------------------------------------------------------
- INDEED: God does not despise the innocent
- ------- --- does not support the wicked
- (So entreat to God and wait till you are punished for sins)
- Until such time that you laugh again
- --------------- that you shout hello
- Then, your enemies will be dressed in embarassment
- for the camps of the wicked will indeed be gone
----------------------------------------------------------------

Stay tuned tomorrow for Jobs rebuttal of this 2nd attempt
to solve the problem of suffering.
