Kuph-Tzade has 9 Meanings

BACKGROUND
----------
One of the 6 major functions of Rashi is to provide a Biblical
dictionary -- that is, to list words and all their meanings.

In this module we discuss the root Kuf-Tzade whose fundamental
meaning is END.

TEXT - 2Sam16-02
----------------
....I have brought bread and FIGS (KAYTZ)

RASHI
-----
The Hebrew word KAYTZ can mean SUMMER or FIGS (also
see Isa28-04 for another example). FIGS ripen late;
summer (KAYTZ) is the TIME when they RIPEN.(Radack
says similarly)

THE LIST
---------
Today we present usages of KAYTZ which means TO COMPLETE.Clearly
TO COMPLETE is related to the fundamental meaning of TO END.Thus
the SUMMER is the season when fruits RIPEN & GET COMPLETED
MEANING Relation to End Verse Sample Text
COMPLETION The END*3 Gn41-01a At COMPLETION of 2 years
Figs Completion figs 2Sam16-2 Bread & FIGS for kids*3 *4
Summer Fig Month Gn08-22d SUMMER & winter.... *2 *3
COMMENTS
*2 Of course SUMMER is the COMPLETION of all Ripening

*3 In all meanings denoting END there is an element of
COMPLETION, or more precisely, an element that the part
before the end is usable and good. Thus SUMMER ends and
also COMPLETES the ripening process;WAKE-UP ends and also
   COMPLETES the rest process.
The Hebrew for SUMMER is KAYTZ; for WAKE UP is YAKAYTZ

*4 It appears that the primary meaning of KAYTZ is FIGS.
Since figs ripen late (in the summer) a derived meaning
is SUMMER. Nevertheless SUMMER also can refer to the
time of RIPENING & COMPLETION of FRUIT.
