Kuph-Tzade has 9 Meanings |
BACKGROUND

One of the 6 major functions of Rashi is to provide a Biblical
dictionary -- that is, to list words and all their meanings.

meaning is END.

summer (KAYTZ) is the TIME when they RIPEN.(Radack
says similarly)

COMMENTS |
*2 Of course SUMMER is the COMPLETION of all Ripening
*3 In all meanings denoting END there is an element of
COMPLETION, or more precisely, an element that the part
before the end is usable and good. Thus SUMMER ends and
also COMPLETES the ripening process;WAKE-UP ends and also
COMPLETES the rest process.
The Hebrew for SUMMER is KAYTZ; for WAKE UP is YAKAYTZ
*4 It appears that the primary meaning of KAYTZ is FIGS.
Since figs ripen late (in the summer) a derived meaning
is SUMMER. Nevertheless SUMMER also can refer to the
time of RIPENING & COMPLETION of FRUIT.
