VERSE: Lv05-24b


Lv05-24b says "And he shall return the PRINCIPLE he stole
and its FIFTH**S**" Note how FIFTHS is in plural.

The talmud gives many examples where a thief
would have to return many FIFTHS


EXAMPLE
-------
(1) He keeps on denying under oath a deposit
& gets caught-

He must return 1 principle & many fifths


(2) He keeps on returning theft but denies
under oath that he owes a fifth (ie he claims he payed it)

He must return a fifth of each fifth denied
