========== THE ROOT KNA means POSSESIVE not JEALOUS =========
On these Rashis the Hebrew root Kuf-Nun-Aleph (KNA) is
translated. The usual English translation is JEALOUS.
Rashi suggests that a better translation is POSSESSIVE.
The point being that POSSESSION is a neutral term -- while
JEALOUS is something that is usually perojative. Therefore
the LIST below shows that NKA=POSSESSIVENESS can be used
either to HELP or to AVENGE thus justifying a translation
of POSSESSIVE vs JEALOUS.
The LIST following this one analyzes how Rashi deals
with an identical theme on many verses. Here is the LIST
of verses with the root KNA.

NOTES
=====
*1 The full text of Nu05-14 and the surrounding verses is
------------------------------------------------
IF a woman DESCECRATES her marriage
If she sleeps with a person,or doesnt sleep
and she hadnt been with her husband
and she had been secluded
If here husband had been POSSESSIVE for her then..
-------------------------------------------------
That is all the verse says. We are not told HOW the
husband is POSSESSIVE. Rashi says
--------------------------------------------------
Our sages have specificed this POSSESSIVENESS as
follows: Her husband warned her (in front of witnesses
not to seclude (be alone) with a particular man(and
she went and did so)
--------------------------------------------------
Rashis point here is not grammatical or based on
internal structure. Rather Rashi here is simply
-------------------------------------
GIVING THE BEST GUEST BASED ON THE
OVERALL STRUCTURE OF THE PARAGRAPH.
-------------------------------------
Since the paragraph speaks about NOT BEING WITH
HER HUSBAND AND BEING SECLUDED Rashi identifies the
possessiveness with a warning not to be secluded.
Notice how this Rashi is not FORCED. It is so to speak
a best guest -- or, a confirmation of tradition using
hints from the paragraph. In our list we refer to this
method as the method of OVERALL STRUCTURE. This example
is brought here to show an example of KNA where no
vengenance (killing) is present -- hence KNA means
POSSESSIVE here.
To the best of my knowledge the first two examples on
this list are the only examples in the Bible where
KNA means POSSESSIVE.

===== RASHIS TREATMENT OF THE SAME THEME IN DIFFERENT VERSES ====
Dr Hendel claims that Rashi used Database methods: Rashi might
wish to say something on 5 verses with the same theme. Dr
Hendel claims that Rashi would only say this fully once and
then indicate it lightly in the other verses.
Another way of putting this is that Dr Hendel claims that Rashi
EXPECTED his reader to read all occurences of a theme prior to
understanding his view.
Is this claim true? Read the following LIST which collects
all Rashis on the word KNA. I think it obvious that there
is ONE MAIN VERSE: Nu11-29b, which gives the full explanation
while in the other verses Rashi only gives partial explanations
Thus this LIST supports the above claim. Here is the LIST
