VERSE: Nu08-04a

RULE: The Bible uses the word THIS to show that something
was pointed to with a clarifying 'picture'. 5 such
commandments with the word THIS are presented. In each of
them some Rashi states that some clarifying picture was given

EXAMPLES

(1) Candellabrah-----THIS is the make of the candellabrah *1
(2) Half Shekel------THIS is what the Jews will give*2
(3) New Month--------THIS will be the beginning of the month*3
(4) Kashruth---------THIS is what is not Kosher*4
(5) Passover Seder---Because of THIS, God redeemed me from Egypt*5

*3 God showed him a picture of the new moon
   Rabbi Gamliel also used to have pictures of 'new moons'
   when witnesses came to testify

   father must POINT to the Matzoh, Passover lamb and bitter
