RULE
====
The words >THE< can be used in 4 ways

--THE can refer to a proper noun

--THE can refer to something that is mentioned nearby

  eg Dt04-32c >Has anyone heard THE GREAT THING-that God
  saved a nation enslaved in another nation with great miracles<

  Thus the phrase >THE GREAT THING< refers to the verse that
  follows >That God saved a nation enslaved in another nation<

--THE can refer to a concept, story or thing mentioned
  ELSEWHERE (but not immediately afterwards)

  eg Nu13-33a >We saw there THE Nefilim<
  This refers to the NEFILLIM nation mentined in Gn06-04

--THE can refer to the best known of a class

  eg Dt01-07e >THE Mount< -- This refers to The Kings Mountain

------------------------------------------------------------
 In the following verses >THE< refers to
 NAMES of PROPER NOUNS
------------------------------------------------------------

EXAMPLE 62: Ex03-01b
====================
Ex03-01b And Moses came to THE MOUNT OF GOD

RASHI: THE mount of God=Mount Sinai

   Rashis point is that by using >THE< we make the phrase
   a proper noun. Hence, MOUNT OF GOD refers to the name
   of a place. The obvious reference is Mount Sinai where
   the Decalogue was given.

   For a supplemental approach see
   http://www.RashiYomi.Com/thegod-4.htm

EXAMPLE 63: Ex04-06a
====================

Ex04-06a & he was leprous as THE SNOW-WHITE LEPORS*4

RASHI:
=====
   It does not say >He was Leprous AS snow<
   Rather it says >He was Leprous as THE snow-white lepors<

   The word >THE< refers to known Lepor sympatology.
   Thus by using the word >THE< there is an emphasis that
   Moses did not just LOOK leprous but rather WAS LEPROUS.

   That is, he had all the symptoms (and causes) of Leprosy.
   But it is well known that Leprosy is CAUSED by slander
   (The Bible explicitly says that LEPROSY is not a sickness
   but a Divine punishment for slander-- Dt24-08:09).

Hence Rashis conclusion:
   ------------------------------------------------------
   Moses had just said in Ex04-01
   that THE JEWS WILL NOT BELIEVE ME--this was slanderous
   and for this he was punished with SNOW-WHITE leprosy
   ------------------------------------------------------
