RULE: Extra summary sentences may be placed in a paragraph
(a) for purposes of emphasis,
(b) to indicate essentiality or
(c) to require intention

The following examples all come from Rashi

EXAMPLES:
--------
(1) "If you offer a MINCHAH..pour on it oil FOR IT IS A MICHAH"

The extra sentence "FOR IT IS A MINCHAH" teaches that pouring
of oil is essential at a minchah (and eg if you omitted oil you
have to do the whole process over again)



(2) "And he shall sprinkle from the blood of the sin offering
...IT IS SIN OFFERING".

The extra sentence "IT IS A SIN OFFERING"
teaches that the sprinkling of blood has to be done with the
proper intention that it is being done to atone for sin



(3) "This is the law of the olah..IT IS AN OLAH--let it burn
all night"

From the extra sentence IT IS AN OLAH we learn
that you only let it burn all night if the olah procedure
was done properly.


(4) "Do not sleep with your daughter in law;SHE IS THE WIFE
OF YOUR SON; do not sleep with her". From the extra phrase
SHE IS THE WIFE OF YOUR SON we infer that the prohibition of
incest with a daughter-in-law only applies to a married daughter
in law (but eg does not apply to the rape victim of your son)
