There is nothing troublesome with the verse.
Rashi however uses it to derive moral lessons and norms:


We kill the animal sleeping with a person because it helped
cause the persons downfall-we don't want people saying
There goes the animal so & so slept with
since this would disgrace the person.


Thus the Torah showed concern for human dignity.
