================================ Nu15-05a ===========================

SUCCINCT SUMMARY
----------------
Some Rashi comments deal with FORMATTING.
Modern authors FORMAT using such techniques as
BULLETS, PARAGRAPHING, BOLD, ITALICS and UNDERLINE.
The Biblical Author achieved these effects but thru
different means.

For example a modern author might hilight distinct
items using BULLETS. The Biblical Author hilights
distinct items using REPEATING KEYWORDS.

We call this the Rashi rule of FORMATTING with the Rashi
subrule of KEYWORDS AS BULLETS

Rashi could also infer from the general PARAGRAPH STRUCTURE
(without any keywords). We call this the the Rashi rule of
FORMATTING with the Rashi subrule of PARAGRAPHS.

EXAMPLE 1: Nu10-01:10
----------------------
The Biblical paragraph Nu10-01:10 has
the following structure
-----------------------------------------------------------
VERSE GRAMMAR GRAMMATICAL FUNCTION VERSE CONTENT
---------- ------- -------------------- -------------------
Nu10-01:02 Object WHAT is talked about Trumpets
Nu10-03:07 Adverb HOW they are blown 1,2,3 blasts*1
Nu10-08 Subject WHO blows*2 The Priests
Nu10-09:10 Ind Obj WHEN are they blown Holidays and wartime
------------------------------------------------------------

LIST108g below summarizes the above FORMATTING.

Rashi's point is that
----------------------------------
Nu10-08 describes the SUBJECT,
WHO does the blowing--the priests.
----------------------------------

We have generalized Rashi's point to a discussion of
the grammatical function of the entire paragraph.

EXAMPLE 2: Nu15-01:10
-------------------------------------------
The Biblical paragraph Nu15-01:10 has the following structure
-----------------------------------------------------------------
VERSES SECTION SECTION CONTENT
---------- ------------- ----------------------------------------
Nu15-01:03 Intro section Laws apply when you bring an offering
Nu15-04:05 LAMB section Libation=1/10 flour,1/4 oil, 1/4 wine
Nu15-06:07 RAM section Libation=2/10 flour,1/3 oil, 1/3 wine
Nu15-08:09 BULL section Libation=3/10 flour,1/2 oil, 1/2 wine
Nu15-10 Summary Libations are PER animal
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Rashi's comment is remarkably modest
---------------------------------------------
- Nu15-04:05 discusses the libations of LAMBS
- Nu15-06:07 discusses the libations of RAMS
---------------------------------------------

We have generalized Rashi's comment to deal
with the whole chapter. Further comments
on Rashi's observations may be found in
LIST108f below.
