*1 Professional version has professionally made tables, use of
bold, shading as well as inside-outside technology
Professional version will be available Tonight

*2 Our CLIMAX Page illustrating the important Biblical principle
of CLIMAX has been redone. For example Dt19-11 CLIMACTICALLY
describes how murder takes place in 4 stages(Rashi Dt19-11a)
   - HATRED
   - STALKING, SPYING
   - CONFRONTATION
   - BLOWS & MURDER
Read other examples of this at
   http://www.RashiYomi.Com/climax.htm

*3 The Torah says SLAUGHTER AS I GOD COMMANDED.
Every other place where it says AS I COMMANDED
there is a cross referencing verse. But here there
is none. We conclude that the oral law is cross referenced

*4 Typical Biblical language is WHEN YOU COME TO ISRAEL do such
and such.(And the law is only obligatory upon entry to Israel)
But here the Torah uses the phrase WHEN GOD WIDENS YOUR BORDER
The unusal phrase hints that the eating of meat EVEN THOUGH
ALLOWeD upon entry to Israel should only be done if you are
   rich and have wide assets.

*5 Thru a beautiful and skillful alignment of verses Rashi
deftly shows all the laws of EATING MEAT.
   - Most sacrifices could NOT be eaten
   - But owners could eat Peace offering sacrifices
   - Nevertheless ordinary meat eating was prohibited in desert
   - But ordinary meat eating became permitted upon Israel Entry

VERSE: Dt12-21b

TORAH CROSS REFERENCES ORAL TRADITIONS

BACKGROUND
----------
In a variety of commandments*10 the Torah cross references
herself.

THE TEXT
--------
For example the Torah at Dt19-08 speaks about the Jews
GETTING MORE LAND AS GOD HAD PROMISED (See the first row
in the LIST/TABLE Below) The Biblical phrase as GOD HAD PROMISED
in turn refers to Gn15-19:21 where indeed God promised
This clarifies the 3 columns in the LIST below.

THE RASHI
---------
However Dt12-21b seems to be the only Biblical verse which
uses the pharse AS GOD PROMISED but there is no cross
reference. Rashi concludes that this verse cross references
oral traditions handed to Moses at Sinai

Here is the LIST*10
VERSETEXT OF VERSEAS IT SAYS
Dt19-08aGod will give us more landGn15-19:21
Dt18-02dLevites will not inheritNu18-20
Dt26-18aJews will be TREASUREDEx19-05
Dt26-19aJews will be HOLYLv20-26
Gn21-01cGod gave Sarah a childGn17-19
Ex12-25bGod will give us IsraelEx06-08
Dt12-21bSlaughter animals-*1-----
COMMENTS

*1 Dt12-21b stands as an exception: The Bible says
   ----------------------------------------------------
Slaughter the animals AS I HAVE COMMANDED YOU
   ----------------------------------------------------
but we find no cross reference. Hence, Rashi concludes that
this verse is an explicit statement that there were
oral laws transmitted to Moses at Sinai.

LONGER FOOTNOTES

*10 There are many cross references to this technique of
CROSS REFERENCING WITH OTHER VERSES. In particular see

A DOZEN COMMANDMENTS DEPEND ON ENTRY TO ISRAEL

BACKGROUND
----------
There are 613 commandments.
--Many commandments are simply stated: e.g. DONT KILL
--About a dozen commandments link to Israel Entry: e.g.
WHEN YOU COME TO ISRAEL do such and such

The general rule of thumb is that the 10 commandments
beginning with WHEN YOU COME TO ISRAEL only are obligatory
AFTER conquest of the land (They were not obligatory in
the wilderness)

THE TEXTS
---------
Almost all Israel-Linked commandments begin
WHEN YOU COME TO ISRAEL. There are a few exceptions (See URL
REFERENCE: http://www.RashiYomi.Com/nu15-18a.htm) Rashi
here comments on the unusual language WHEN GOD WIDENS YOUR
BORDERS THEN YOU CAN EAT MEAT (vs WHEN YOU COME TO ISRAEL)

THE RASHI
---------
Following the above guideline we immediately infer that the
Biblical sentence
------------------------------------------------------------
WHEN GOD WIDENS YOUR BORDER YOU CAN EAT MEAT(non-sacrifices)
------------------------------------------------------------
should be interpreted as
--------------------------------------------------------------
--In the wilderness the Jews could not eat meat
(Except they could offer a Peace offering and eat the
meat; in other words they could eat sacrificial meat)
--After entry to Israel the Jews could eat non sacrificial meat
---------------------------------------------------------------
However Rashi also comments on the strange phrase WHEN GOD
WIDENS YOUR BORDER

Here is the List and Rashis comment

Dt18-09Witchcraft prohibitionsWhen you come
Dt26-01First Fruit sacrifice*2When you come &Conquer&Inhabit
COMMENTS

*1 Note how
-- the usual language is WHEN YOU COME
-- but in Dt12-20 it says WHEN GOD WIDENS YOUR BORDERS

Recall that Dt12-20 gives permission to EAT MEAT

Rashi suggests that the different language is to emphasize
Biblical ADVICE: that even though you are allowed to eat meat
you should only eat it when you are rich and well to do.*10

LONGER FOOTNOTES

*10 Rashis interpretation of the verse as advice is also
   consistent with the 3-times-repeated phrase
EAT ACCORDING TO YOUR DESIRES. Here are the 3 repetitions
   ---------------------------------------------------------
Dt12-20 & you will say I will eat meat IF YOU DESIRE TO EAT
Dt12-20 WHEN YOU ARE IN DESIRE TO, eat meat
Dt12-21 You can eat (meat) ACCORDING TO YOUR DESIRES

ALIGNMENT OF 2 SACRIFICES

BACKGROUND
----------
Dt12-26:27 speaks about bringing sacrifices to Jerusalem
THe text discusses how each sacrifice is treated

THE TEXT
--------
And you will make OLAH Offerings: Flesh and Blood on altar
But SHLAMIM offerings:blood is offered while the flesh eaten

THE RASHI
---------
Rashi simply aligns the two verse phrases to show how no
part of the OLAH offering can be eaten while some part
of the SHLAMIM offering can be eaten.

Here is the LIST*10
SACRIFICEPROCEDURES OF BLOODPROCEDURES OF FLESH
Olahblood on altarflesh on altar
Shlamimblood ...on altarflesh is eaten
COMMENTS

*1 Cf the following other relevant verses
   - Lv03-03 Parts of Shlamim offered on Altar
   - Lv07-31:32 Parts of Shlamim eaten by Priest
   - Dt12-27 Non specified parts eaten by owner
LONGER FOOTNOTES
*10 In e.g. the Stone Chumash there are 4 Rashis on Dt12-27
But we follow the Davkah software Rashi version (there is
only one Rashi). At the very end of the list I will attempt
to make an accounting showing there are exactly 7800 Rashis

Rashi brings in a further comment on Dt12-26. Dt12-26 reads
    -----------------------------------------------------------
AT THE VERY LEAST bring your vows of offerings to Jerusalem
    ------------------------------------------------------------

From the phrase AT THE VERY LEAST Rashi infers that
    ------------------------------------------------------------
Other items must be brought to Jerusalem (for example:
the offspring of animals dedicated for sacrifices)
    ------------------------------------------------------------

This derivation is based on the translation of the Hebrew
word RAK as AT THE VERY LEAST (See url
    http://www.RashiYomi.Com/gn20-11a.htm)

ALIGNMENT OF SACRIFICIAL vs PROFANE EATING OF MEAT

BACKGROUND
----------
Dt12-20:28 outlines the following laws
-- The Jews could NOT eat ordinary meat in the wilderness
-- The Jews could --- eat ordinary meat once they came to Israel
-- Even in the wilderness the Jews could eat sacrificial meat
as part of the Peace Offering ceremony

THE TEXT
--------
There is a great deal of LOGIC in the above laws. For example,
-- the Jews could not eat most temple offering meats
-- but they could eat the meat of Peace offerings
-- but they could not eat ordinary meat in the wilderness
-- but they could eat ordinary meat once they came to Israel

THE RASHI
---------
Rashis job is TO PAIR CONTRASTING VERSES together so we can
clearly see the logic.

Here are the laws summarized. The footnotes show the
contrasting verses which state these laws
TYPE OF MEATCould it be eaten in WildernessIn Israel?
Olah SacrificeNo*1No*1
Peace SacrificeYes*1*2Yes*1*2
Ordinary meatNo *2Yes*2
COMMENTS

*1 This is based on the contrast of the following verse phrases
   ------------------------------------------------------------
Dt12-26 Your OLAHS have their FLESH ----- & BLOOD on altar
Dt12-26 Your PEACE have their FLESH eaten & BLOOD on altar
   ------------------------------------------------------------

Note that there is no distinction between Israel & Wilderness
The laws of sacrifices are universal.

See the other table in this posting for further details

*2 These laws are based upon the following verses
   -------------------------------------------------------------
Dt12-20 When you come to Israel
Dt12-21 ----------------------- If far you can eat meat
   Dt12-26 ----------------------- ------ but sacrifices to Tmpl
   -------------------------------------------------------------

See footnote *10 for more elaboration on the logic
LONGER FOOTNOTES

*10 We now show how the contrast of the 3 verses gives rise
to the various laws in the above LIST/TABLE. Here are
    the verses repeated
   -------------------------------------------------------------
Dt12-20 When you come to Israel
Dt12-21 ----------------------- If far you can eat meat
   Dt12-26 ----------------------- ------ but sacrifices to Tmpl
   -------------------------------------------------------------

From the pairing of Dt12-20 & Dt12-21 we immediately see that
-- ordinary meat COULD not be eaten UNTIL the entry to Israel
-- Hence ordinary meat could not be eaten in the wilderness
-- But ordinary meat could be eaten in Israel

   (See posting http://www.Rashiyomi.Com/dt12-20a.htm in
this Digest (Volume 11 Number 7) for a discussion of the
strange phrase WHEN GOD WIDENS YOUR BORDER vs the simple
   WHEN YOU COME TO ISRAEL)

From the contrast of Dt21-21 & Dt12-26 we immediately see that
---sacrifices MUST be brought to Jerusalem to eat
---Hence sacrifices cannot be eaten outside the temple
---but profane meat CAN be eaten outside Jerusalem

Note I have shortened the verses somewhat to let things be
on one line. In particular the phrase IF FAR YOU CAN EAT MEAT
means IF YOU ARE FAR AWAY FROM JERUSALEM YOU CAN EAT MEAT
BUT THE SACRIFICES MUST BE BROUGHT TO THE TEMPLE

Rabbi Ishmael: Dont STOP any ANIMAL from eating
			   while DOING ITS WORK

RABBI ISHMAEL: These laws apply to any SIMILAR Example
 * The law applies to partnerships, movables and monetary objects
 * The law does not apply to real-estate or slander

=================================================================
THE CLIMAX RULE: The Bible should be interpreted in such a manner

             REFERENCE: http://www.RashiYomi.Com/example9.htm
=================================================================
EXAMPLE 1: Dt19-11a If a man HATES, SPIES, CONFRONTS & KILLS
RASHI: Bible identifies 4 stages to murder(Capped)

==============================================================
THE FORMATTING PRINCIPLE: Bible had its own method to mimic
                          bold, bullets, footnotes, paragraphs
==============================================================

* BOLD: Bible REPEATS words to obtain BOLD emphasis effect
          http://www.RashiYomi.Com/doubl-14.htm
  --------------------------------------------------------------
EXAMPLE 1:(Ex12-09c) COOK COOK it in water (So COOKED is bold)
  INFERENCE: Prefered to COOK it in water;
But COOK It at all costs(Even if you dont have water)

* BULLETS: Bible indicates bullets by REPEATING KEYWORDS
  --------------------------------------------------------
 Who am I
 - THAT I should go to Pharaoh
 - THAT I should take the Jews out of Egypt (Ex03-11a)
 --------------------------------------------------------
RASHI: Repeated word THAT creates BULLET effect
 - Pharoh was a difficult king (Bullet one)
 - Jews were not yet ready for freedom (Bullet two)

* FOOTNOTES: The Bible indicates FOOTNOTES by ALMOST DUPLICATING
verses but making small minor changes
                http://www.RashiYomi.Com/align-58.htm
  ---------------------------------------------------------------
  EXAMPLE: Ex20-03a
